Phoenix Physician Elected to the American Osteopathic Association Board of Trustees

(CHICAGO) – Shannon C. Scott, DO, of ​Phoenix was elected to the American Osteopathic Association’s (AOA) Board of Trustees at the organization’s annual House of Delegates Meeting in Chicago. Dr. Scott will serve the board as the new physician in practice representative.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to work with the AOA and to represent the concerns of new osteopathic physicians like myself,” says Dr. Scott. “It is an honor to represent such physicians early in our careers in osteopathic medicine.”

Professional Background

In addition to her new position on the AOA’s Board of Trustees, Dr Scott will serve as the chair of the AOA’s Committee on New Physicians in Practice. Dr. Scott currently serves as the assistant clinical professor of family and osteopathic manipulative medicine at the Midwestern University/Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (MWU/AZCOM) in Glendale. Dr. Scott is also a member of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP). Dr. Scott represented Arizona as an ACOFP delegate from 2006- 2008 and again in 2011.

Education

Upon receiving her degree in osteopathic medicine from MWU/AZCOM in 2004, Dr. Scott completed postdoctoral training at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Healthcare Hospital where she was awarded the Outstanding Intern of the Year Award in 2005. She also received the Brazie Award in 2006 from the Arizona Academy of Family Physicians for her achievements and dedication in her postdoctoral training.
