Northup Medical Writing Award Presented During AOA's Annual Business Meeting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aug. 12, 2014

(CHICAGO) – The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) presented lead author Thanh V. Cao, BS, with the George W. Northup, DO, Medical Writing Award for the article “In Vitro Biomechanical Strain Regulation of Fibroblast Wound Healing.” The article appeared in the November 2013 issue of The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association.

The study, conducted by Cao; Michael R. Hicks, BS; and Paul R. Standley, PhD, builds upon a prior body of work in this area. It uses scientific methods to explore the mechanisms by which fibroblasts are impacted by stressors and how osteopathic manipulative treatment might alter the mechanics and cellular milieu.

The award was presented during the AOA’s Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates, held July 18-20, in Chicago.

About the Northup Award

The Northup Award is bestowed annually to the best article published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association (JAOA) the previous year.
