The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is pleased to invite members of the media to attend “OMED 2011, the Osteopathic Medical Conference & Exposition,” Oct. 30- Nov. 3, 2011 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Osteopathic physicians (DOs), osteopathic medical students and other members of the osteopathic medical profession from across the nation will convene in Orlando for this year’s conference, which will provide a host of media opportunities, including:
Scientific presentations featuring the latest information on a variety of health care topics and medical research
Poster abstract presentations
Medical and pharmaceutical exhibits
Please note the following AOA Press Room guidelines and media eligibility policies for OMED 2011.
Media credentials are available to working journalists (editorial staff of newspapers, magazines, medical or health care publications, broadcast or Web-based media, including bloggers) whose attendance at the meeting may result in print, broadcast or electronic coverage of the AOA or its individual members. OMED 2011 registration fees are waived for working journalists who fit the qualifications stated above. To obtain media credentials, working journalists may be required to provide identification such as a business card or letter of assignment.
The AOA does not issue media credentials to the following: a publication’s advertising, marketing, public relations or sales representatives; publishers, editors or reporters from manufactures; promotional or in-house publications; public relations staff of exhibitors or educational institutions; writers creating analyses or reports sold as a commodity to customers; or other individuals who are not actually reporting on the meeting.
The AOA reserves the right to deny press credentials to anyone at anytime.
Advanced Media Registration
Journalists interested in attending OMED 2011 can pre-register by emailing or faxing the media registration form to Nicole Grady, AOA media relations manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (312) 202-8338, between Monday, Sept. 26, and Friday, Oct. 28.
Pre-registered media will receive an electronic media kit that includes the conference program prior to the meeting. Press badges and additional conference materials can be obtained in the AOA Press Room located in the Orange County Convention Center West Building-- Room 225A starting Sunday, Oct. 30.
On-site Media Registration
Beginning Sunday, Oct. 30, on-site registration will be available in the AOA Press Room located in the Orange County Convention Center West Building-- Room 225A.
Press Badges/Access to OMED 2011
Press badges, which are available for registered media meeting eligibility requirements, must be visible at all times to attend scientific presentations, keynote addresses, research poster sessions or the exhibit floor.
Video crews and still photographers eligible for OMED 2011 media credentials who are covering the meeting are required to check in to the AOA Press Room each day and must be accompanied by an AOA media relations staff member when shooting inside the facilities. Shooting schedules and on-camera interview requests should be scheduled in advance to ensure availability of interview subjects and AOA media relations staff. Media may not photograph or videotape an exhibit booth without permission of the exhibitor and the AOA.
AOA Press Room Access
Access to the AOA Press Room is limited to registered journalists and AOA members who are invited by the AOA media relations staff to participate in an interview or press briefing. The room will have refreshments, Internet access and an area to conduct media interviews.
Exhibitors and other attendees not invited by AOA media relations staff are not permitted to conduct interviews or use press room equipment.
Exhibitors may drop off press materials to be displayed on a designated table in the press room during designated press room hours.
It is the policy of the AOA not to make public the registered media attendees at the meeting.
