David G. Carfagno, DO, who is board certified in internal medicine and sports medicine, practices at Scottsdale Sports Medicine Institute in Arizona. He has served as a team physician or medical director for numerous athletic teams and sporting events, most recently serving as team physician for the U.S. Boxing National Team. Dr. Carfagno also served as medical director for the Special Olympics of Arizona and the Ironman Arizona. He has been named to Phoenix Magazine's Top Doctor for Sports Medicine list every year since 2010.
Dr. Carfagno is available to discuss concussions, athletes with arthritis, steroid use in sports, sports supplements and other sports medicine topics. His expertise about sports medicine has been sought for radio, television and newspaper interviews, including the Arizona Republic. In addition to treating athletes, Dr. Carfagno is a talented athlete himself, having competed as part of the 2010-2011 U.S. Triathlon Team.
Dr. Carfagno received his osteopathic medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. He completed both his internship and residency at the Cleveland Clinic.
