Paul R. Ehrmann, DO, is founder, owner and medical director of Family Health Care Center in Royal Oak, Mich. He also serves as a clinical associate professor at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) in East Lansing.

After years of volunteering at his local school district and seeing firsthand the adverse effects of childhood obesity, Dr. Ehrmann founded Children’s Health Initiative Program, a grassroots volunteer community-based effort to encourage families to positively modify their lifestyle in order to eat healthier and to stay fit. He also authored Generation XL The Childhood Obesity Pandemic: A Community Based Solution, based on the program.

He has been interviewed by several newspapers, television and radio stations throughout the country about childhood obesity issues. Crain’s Detroit Business honored Dr. Ehrmann by naming him the recipient of the Physician Health Care Hero award in recognition for his work in combating childhood obesity.

Dr. Ehrmann earned his osteopathic medical degree from MSUCOM and served as chief family practice resident at Henry Ford Bi-County Community Hospital in Warren, Mich.
